Fibreglasses are made out of strong and light materials. They are hardened into plastic-like materials. Though they look like plastics, they are not considered one. Painting on fiberglass needs more attention than just the ordinary wood and glass painting. Unlike the glass, we may sand the fiberglass until it is smooth enough. Just like the wood and metals, we also need to utilize primer to the fiberglass before applying the final coating. Fiberglass allows us to manufacture the finest and smoothest surfaces without detrimental the glass-like or plastic-like material.

Sanding is one of the most indispensable elements in painting fiberglass. It will make them shinier, and smoother as in grits of the sandpaper increases. We need to carry on sanding the fiberglass until we get satisfied with the smoothness of the surface. We do not need to hurry for this because the more time we sand, the smoother it will get.

After the sanding procedures, we will now go to the cleaning. We may wash it with mild solution soap. We may also use the solid homogeneous inorgani substance sprits that are not turpentine. Washing them exhaustively will remove all the residues from the sanding. We rinse it with very clear water so that we may without apparent effort see if there is still remaining sanded fiberglass on it.

After the sanding and the cleaning, we will now do the applying of paint coats. We need to choose a paint that will match with our primer base. Acrylic will be the best choice for top coats.

After applying the coat of the primer, we let it arid and then again sand it using a 120+ grit sand paper. This will make it smoother after applying the paint. We just need to make sure that we don’t go deeper so that the paint will not be wiped out.

After the sanding of the primer paint, we now go to the applying of the second layer of paint with at least two thin coats. We may use the roller spray or the spray gun for the most coats to make the painting a lot posing no difficulty and faster. It will also give us a finer and even coat.

For a better sanding result, we may use the orbital sander to give us a more quickly occupation and a smoother finish. Another essential thing to do not forget is to not assemble the fiberglass constituents before curing the paint. Any form of brushing and rubbing of the elements may cause the peeling and cracking of the paint.

Those are all the procedures and guidelines on how to apply paint on fiberglass. We may carry out this routine for all the fibreglasses that needs painting. Just do not forget to always wear shelter whenever being exposed to fibreglasses. The use of gloves and protective gears will prevent us from further accidents.

Now we may take delight in our newly painted fibreglasses into our homes.

5Amazing!
By spotted dog
I own a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the bumpers and trim had faded to a shade of gray that was almost white. Although it took two bottles of the Forever Black and alot of time/effort to restore the plastic, by the time I had finished it looked new again. Actually, I’m not sure it was that black when I bought it 8 years ago. I waited 4 months before writing this review to see how long it would last before washing off and it hasn’t yet. I haven’t applied any other products during this period and it actually looks as shiny and black as it did the day I put it on. This product is like a miracle cure for tired, old cars.

5WOW!!
By Rod Reviewer
This is an amazing product. I have a 2004 Volvo XC70 whose black bumper and other trim had faded to grey pretty badly. (I am sure many readers have seen Volvo’s with trim that has faded really badly.) I used to treat the trim with Mother’s Back to Black and it made the trim look great….until it rained, which caused the product to run and cause streaks in the trim…making it look even worse than before I even treated it.

The important factors in using Forever Black are preparation and patience. Preparation: The product comes packaged with a cleanser and an applicator bottle. I took my time and cleansed my trim three times, very well, with the cleanser. Then carefully I dried it. Patience: Once I started to apply the dye, the trim absorbed it like a sponge. I was concerned at first because of the rate at which the product was being absorbed; I was afraid I did not have enough product to do the job. Well, I persevered and after about 6 full applications on all of the black trim, it looked better than brand new. Plus, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the bottle of product was still about half full!

Even now, several months (and several rainfalls) later, the trim still looks better than it did when the car was new. I am in love with this product, and whenever I am out driving the car, I love the puzzled looks I get from others (especially other XC70 owners) because my car blows theirs away with its good looks. I am waiting for someone to approach me one day and ask, “What in the world did you do?”

Great job, Forever Black! You have an excellent product here. Don’t stop making it!!

5A truly great product w/ a terrible applicator – here’s a tip
By TheBigOldDog
Everything people say about how well this product works is true. It’s nothing short of amazing.

The person who gave it 1 star and mentioned the problems with the applicator is correct – that can happen.

So, the best way I have found to use this product (I’ve done 3 trucks) is to pour the dye into a disposable plastic container and use a cheap disposable foam paint applicator. Works like a charm plus you can use the foam brush that best suits the area you are dying. Makes it easier, cleaner and faster than using the built in foam dabber especially for small trim, corners, tight areas, etc.

I do something similar with tire dressing like Black Magic Tire wet. I pour it into a cup and use a paint brush to apply it.
